Histon 1-2 King's Lynn Town
The Linnets completed their first league double of the season as they saw of their Cambridgeshire rivals.
It was Lynn who started brightly, The first chance arrived on ten minutes when good link up play between Michael Clunan and David Bridges saw the latter play in Sam Mulready who fizzed an effort just past the post.
Lynn where within a whisker of taking the lead moments later, A superb Ryan Fryatt cross was headed powerfully over by Jacek Zielonka.
The very impressive Luke Trotman for the home side was on hand twice to prevent Zielonka after perfect Lee Stevenson crosses.
The home side forced Alex Streer into his first save of the match in the second minute into the second half when he saved Nick Freeman's shot.
Jack Friend and Dylan Edge where introduced mid way into the second period as the Linnets went looking for a goal, That was rewarded just minutes later when Clunan's corner was headed home by the on rushing Bridges.
Only a minute later the home side had equalised, Street slipped as he tried to clear his lines and Sam Ives fired home into the unguarded Linnets net.
Lynn where rewarded for their persistence ten minutes from time when brilliant work from Friend inside the area saw the Peterborough loanee slide the ball across the six yard box and Ryan Fryatt was on hand to slam home at the back post to spark wild celebrations by the travelling Lynn fans behind the goal.
Lynn: Street, Fryatt, Yong, Miller, Gaughran, Bridges, Clunan, Hurst (L.Fryatt), Zielonka (Edge), Mulready (Friend), Stevenson. Subs: Castellan, Friend, L.Fryatt, Edge, Simpson. Booked: Bridges, Zielonka. Scorer: Bridges, R.Fryatt Attendance: 259

Plenty of Lynn supporters there who were nice and loud and got behind the team for 90 minutes.
The game itself was much like the home encounter four weeks ago. Very open with chances at both ends.
I think we just about shaded the first half, although left off from Saturday with one chance in particular pinballing around the box around the stranded keeper and going everywhere except over the line.
The pitch was certainly tricky, with the grass fairly long and bobbly in places. Lots of players slipping over and losing their footing. Play was not helped in this respect by an inconsistent referee happy to award free kicks for minor misdemeanours and 50/50 challenges, but completely overlook two particular incidents - one being a blatant elbow in the back of Stevo's head by their number 4, and their number 6 going two footed through the back of Sam Mulready. Bridges was booked in the 'discussion' that followed the elbow on Stevenson, that left him laying on the pitch for a couple of minutes before the referee finally stopped play.
After soaking up some Histon pressure for several minutes, we finally got ahead in the 71st minute when Bridges reacted first to a ball in from a Clunan corner and fired home via the shin of Histon's number 2. Less than a minute later, Histon levelled when Street slipped controlling a backpass under pressure from Sam Ives, leaving him with a simple finish.
The game continued to remain in the balance, Jacek Zielonka was booked after going down in the box, however I feel this was harsh as nobody (not even the supporters) protested that he had been fouled.
The introduction of Dylan Edge and Jack Friend for Mulready and Zielonka seemed to turn the game in our favour. Friend suddenly caused Histon all sorts of problems down our left hand side. From one run into the box his low cross was turned in at the back post by Fryatt six minutes from time. Dylan Edge had two good chances to put the game to bed, the first going over the bar and the second bobbling just past the post having left the keeper stranded.
Once again a fantastic effort from the players. Thankfully in the end we got the goals and points our performance deserved. Histon played their part in an entertaining game of football too.
MOM I would have given to Stevenson as I think he covered every blade of grass on the pitch, like at Barton last week looked like he was going to win the ball every time he went in for a tackle. Fryatt was also excellent and demonstrated his attacking credentials. Friend and Edge both did their growing reputations no harm at all with their respective performances when they came on.
Big question is can we take this performance into Saturday? We seem to struggle at taking this level of performance over 2-3 games when playing twice a week.
