It has been a long time since my last blog and so much has happened at the football club since my last one. I really feel the football club has taken huge strides in becoming bigger than ever before on and off the pitch. It is a great time to be playing and involved with the football club. There is a real buzz and excitement about the place. There is a real togetherness from the youth all the way to the first team. Everyone is supporting each other which is bringing the club closer and has helped with performance on the pitch what is the main objective.
Since christmas the first team have been superb, we have achieved some great results and some great performances. For me personally i was disappointed to lose my place in the side but i can’t complain about not getting back in the side. Matty and kern have been very impressive and put in some magnificent performances. It was great to see Matty sign a contract at the club, he fully deserves it and it was a great move for both the club and himself. Matty still has a lot to learn and he will make mistakes but he is only 21, he will hopefully learn from the experiences. He has a great attitude and is always asking me questions on different things on how to improve. He has a big future in the game. Recently i have been given a different role in the team being a holding midfield player. This is something I enjoy doing and it was a position i played for Kings Lynn when i was first at the club as a 16 year old.
I said all along that this side will come good, we needed time to gel at the start of the season. before christmas we had some great results but also had some poor results and we could produce a high level consistently. Since the new year this is something we have managed to do. We have turned draws into wins and loses into draws. As i right this we are 7th in the league with a massive game coming up against Dorchester, we are in and around the playoffs with a great opportunity to get into them. At the start of the season if you would have asked me what would be a good season i would have said a top 10 finish, but now i would be disappointed if we didn’t get into the play-offs.
There has been some great performances from players since my last blog. Liam Hurst is showing everyone why he is one of the best wingers in the league, his performances have been superb. He is showing the potential he had at the start of the season more consistently and causing fullbacks nightmares. Lee Smith has fitted into the club superbly since he joined. I have known Smudge for a while now playing with him at Lowestoft, when gaffer asked me about him i said straight away sign him. He adds energy to the team as well as experience, he does a lot of work that a lot of people won’t notice but if you take him out of the side he is missed. Pedro has made so many crucial saves since christmas, I have heard a few people criticise him but for me he is one of the best goalkeepers in the league. He makes world class saves at crucial times of the games, it is easy to forget he is still only 23/24 what is still very young for a goalkeeper. He will only get better with time it is scary to think how good he will be in 5 years time. Also both full backs have been in superb form. Ryan Fryatt has been one of the most consitent performers all year every week he is never less than a 7/10. Jordan Yong on his day is most probably the best left back in the league, since christmas he has lived up to this reputation. He has every attribute to play at a higher level and hopefully he can do that with Kings Lynn.
Some good news that Connor Marshall has had his operation and is now on the mend. It is going to be a long long recovery for him but the first step is complete and all the lads want to wish him well in his recovery. I haven’t known Connor that long but what I do know is he is a very determined person and he will come back stronger and better.
It is great to see the reserves and youth team both doing well in there leagues but more importantly producing and developing players for the first team. The reserve and youth team gives young local players the opportunity and platform to perform and develop at the club. This will hopefully continue way into the future. It is important for a club to produce young hungry footballers for the first team and this is certainly what the reserves and youth team do at the club.
We have some massive games coming up and we need all the support we can get. There has been a big push recently to get more fans to the games and it really does help the lads. It would be great for the team to see 1000 people watching the final home games and helping us push into the play-off positions. Also want to say a special thank you to the Lynn Ultras, they have been a group of lads following us around the country to support the team.
Thanks for your continued support
